Exports of cassava for 2 months in 2014 fell sharply

Vietnam's cassava yield currently stands at about 17.6 tonnes / ha, the 10th highest among the countries with high productivity. The statistics also showed that cassava growing area of the country is 560 thousand hectares, with a total output of nearly 9.4 million tonnes. Of these, 30% yield obtained serve domestic consumer demand for food, feed and processing, pharmaceutical industry, as feedstock biodiesel production, industrial alcohol, while 70% are exported in the form of starch or cassava.

Exports of cassava and cassava products of Vietnam the world's second largest in 2013, after Thailand, and has been present in countries in the region such as China, Korea, Malaysia, Indonesia, India, Myanmar , Japan.
Currently, China's import market for cassava and cassava products from Vietnam's largest (representing 85.6%). However, export of cassava and cassava products into the Chinese market in 2013 was only 946.4 million, down 19.8% compared with 2012, due to the Ethanol factory in town had closed near 70%.
