Resident Office US Department of Agriculture (USDA Post) forecast Thailand's rice exports reached 11 million tons in 2015, and said that the country's rice exports will grow faster in the second half of this year when the government sold volume discharge rice storage. According to USDA Post, exports of Thai parboiled rice, accounting for 30% of total rice export volume will increase in the coming months due to increased demand of Nigerians.
However, USDA Post also said that "The rice price competition between Vietnam and Thailand will continue to put pressure on world prices." QI / 2015, Thailand's rice exports at 2.1 million tonnes, down 4% from the same period last year, according to USDA data Post.
The Thai government has sold 1.3 million tons of rice discharged storage, grossed 16 billion baht (499 million dollars) in the first quarter / 2015.
Currently Thailand is taking several measures to support rice farmers, including subsidies Rice Program at Farm, income support measures (subsidies 192 USD / ha to 3.6 million farmers with a total an amount of US $ 1.2 billion), Programme Support Employment to assist farmers affected by limited government water supply, Rice Insurance Program and Interest Assistance Program.
